Using advanced computing to solve complex problems.
Working group members: Martha Bailey, Dora Costa, and Marc Suchard
The revolution in big data, increased computational power, and unprecedented data storage has transformed academic research. Researchers increasingly require access to high-performance computing, data storage infrastructure, virtual machines, and expert staff support for data acquisition, analysis, and storage.
The primary task of this working group is to ensure that IDRE advocates for UCLA to create the physical infrastructure to meet the needs of researchers. The secondary task of this working group is to ensure that IDRE advises UCLA, particularly its co-sponsors, OARC and ORCA, on the appropriate resources to assist researchers in the creation and use of datasets. A tertiary task of this working group to ensure access to data which have become widely available to researchers. Our working group will seek opportunities to work across IDRE’s four focus areas in order to encourage the development of flexible, powerful research infrastructure at UCLA.
