IDRE’s GIS team offers hands-on training and workshops on a variety of geo-spatial topics. At the current time, these workshops are offered on a per request basis. Some of the topics we cover are outlined below:
Introduction to GIS
Learn how to use ESRI’s ArcGIS application to conduct spatial analysis. Learn how to map your own data, create demographic snapshots of neighborhoods, import and visualize GPS data, geocode a list of addresses, etc.
Do you have a historical map or a site plan that needs to be viewed in reference to other spatial datasets? Learn how to “georerenced” scanned imagery to be used and layered with other GIS data for further spatial analysis.
Google Maps and Google Fusion Tables
Would you like to publish your research as visual data on a web based map? Learn how to leverage Google’s Mapping technologies by putting your data in the cloud and creating mash-ups that can be embedded into any website for the public to interact with.
Would you like to leverage the power of Google’s 3D Earth viewer? Learn how to import your own data, build 3D models and add them to Google Earth, create 3D navigational tours and more.
Do you have a research idea that would work best as a web-based mapping application? Learn how to use the Google Maps API or the Open Layers API to create compelling, interactive maps on the web.
