An In-Depth Introduction to Google Colab — Discovering how to use free CPU/GPU for coding and teaching

August 27, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

As Jupyter Notebook is becoming more and more popular for data scientists, researchers and software engineers, many people may have already heard about Google Colab. As one of the most famous cloud services for machine learning, Colab features FREE access to GPU and TPU computing. But do you know you can use Colab for various scripting languages beyond Python (like R, Julia or Javascript)? Do you realize that Colab can actually provide a democratized and parallel-programming environment of teaching for hundreds or thousands of students? In this talk, we will try to address those questions and explore further possibilities for what Google Colab can do for your learning, coding and teaching tasks.

No pre-requisite knowledge is required to grasp on the main part of the talk. But the experience on working in Jupyter Notebook will definitely be helpful to understand the technical details.

Please REGISTER in advance for this Zoom Meeting before joining.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

If you have any further questions regarding the workshop, please contact instructor Qiyang Hu.
