OhmageX for Crowdsourced Mobile Data Collection

April 21, 2015 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Overview:
Students are arriving on campus with mobile devices that let them interact with their community, collect new data, and track activities for analysis. In this IDRE workshop, we will highlight the four categories of BYOD mobile data collection and how OIT’s ohmage X (the X is for “Cross Platform”) toolset and web-based Data Visualization Dashboard can support this new activity for deeper and more engaged learning in your courses today. This tool is Supported by IEI funds, and is FREE for UCLA Faculty and Students to use and explore in there course for highly interactive field exercises. If faculty desire, students can even be set up to author their own data surveys using the ohmage X platform.

Outcomes include:
• Experience an in-session crowdsourced mobile data collection exercise
• Learn about the BYOD mobile data collection experiments in and across higher education

Collect Mobile Data in your class using ohmageX
