Abstract: Rising energy requirements in a broad range of computing platforms from mobile devices to server systems combined with the proliferation of these high-performance computing platforms has lead to an exigent need for improvement in platform energy efficiency. This requires infrastructure for monitoring of platform energy consumption and methods to reduce the energy costs. In this talk, we present an energy measurement infrastructure that provides high-resolution real-time energy measurements for a commodity computing platform. The measurement infrastructure is integrated at the platform level and provides measurements for the complete platform along with components such as the CPU, memory modules and others.
